Oldham year 11s can make choices this weekend

Connexions Oldham are hosting their annual Your Choice Careers Exhibition for Year 11 pupils this weekend, on Saturday 14th November

The event, which brings together over 30 local employers, training providers, schools and colleges, takes place at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, from 11.00-2.00pm and is aimed at Year 11 pupils and their parents.

'The Your Choice exhibition allows pupils and parents to find out what options are available to them when they finish Year 11 next year.' explains Steve Murphy, from Connexions.

'Despite the economic conditions there have never been so many different options for those finishing Year 11, meaning making decisions about which is the best option can be a challenge.

"Even though next summer may seem a long way off, now is the time to be thinking about your next step because many colleges and training providers need applications to be in early in the new year.  We are very keen to encourage parents to attend as they have a major impact on helping their son or daughter to make career decisions."

Connexions staff will be on hand to offer advice throughout the day, and Information Sessions on Options after Year 11, University and Finances, and Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) will also take place during the day. There is no need to book for these - just turn up.
