Connexions Oldham are holding a consultation session with parents of teenagers to establish better ways of working with them. The service currently delivers a range of information, advice and guidance to young people aged 13-19 throughout the borough and Connexions Personal Advisers are based in all secondary schools.
A parents and carers consultation group is being set up aimed at ensuring the service delivers appropriate and relevant information to parents to help them discuss choices and options to their son or daughter.
Connexions Director of Education Steve Murphy explains 'In the past we have always ensured our services are tailored to young people, but there is also a need to make sure we engage with their parents too. We recognise that parents are the biggest influence in a young persons life, and its important for them to have all the information they need to help their son or daughter make decisions for the future.'
'We are looking for parents of 13-19 year olds to meet with us at Connexions on Union Street for an hour or so on Thursday 29th April at 6.30pm to tell us their views on Connexions and how we can help them. Parking and light refreshments will be provided.'
Any parent wishing to find out more, or get involved can either turn up on Thursday 28th April, or contact Steve Murphy on 0161 6219350.
