Connexions can help you decide whether to stay on in education or go into the work place. Either way the qualifications you gain will help you earn more as you progress through your chosen career
You can continue in full time learning at school sixth form, sixth form college; or further education college. School sixth forms or sixth form colleges tend to offer AS and A2 levels and an opportunity to take, or retake GCSEs and key skills.
A levels give you an advanced level of knowledge in a particular subject. Most people will begin with three or four subjects. AS levels are taken in the first year, then A2 levels in the second year. If you pass both years you get a full A level.
The combination and grades of A levels and/or BTEC subjects is very important for individual university courses. There are also many university courses where you can gain entry through other vocational qualifications at level 3.
Further Education colleges also offer a wider range of vocational qualifications (related to the world of work)
If you do decide to continue in full time learning you might be entitled to some financial help.
