Interested in volunteering?

Are you looking to develop your skills? Want to meet new people? Try out some new activities?   Look no further than this section, which is all about volunteering.

What is vinvolved?

Vinvolved is the new, national youth volunteering project. It's running all over the country and is available to anyone aged 16-25.

 What can I do?

That's up to you! Once you get in touch with one of our advisers, we'll support you to find a placement to match your interests. We can help you to find opportunities in sports, youth work, medicine and health, arts and music, administration, the environment, and many more. Tell us what you want to do and we'll match you up to something that suits you.

Why should I do this if I'm not being paid?

We understand it's always nice to have cash in your pocket. However there are so many benefits to doing voluntary work that more than make up for it. Plus you will usually get expenses paid.  At the very least, you'll be learning new skills, making friends, and having a lot of fun.  Ask anyone that volunteers and they'll tell you what a great experience it is – and it always looks good on your CV and employers love it so it can help you to find work in the future!

What if I want to have a go but can't commit much time?

That's fine!  As well as longer-term placements there are always one off taster activities for you to get involved in, as well community events and festivals. So even if you haven't got much time there might still be something for you with vinvolved.

What if I want to develop my own project?

If you have a great idea for a project that would benefit other people, congratulations! You've come to the right place. We can help you get up to £2,500 worth of funding to develop your own projects through funding called vcashpoint. We'll support you to develop your idea and then, when you're ready, to apply for some money to run your project.

I'm interested. What do I do next?

We have a team based in the Medtia Place building, which is also home to a lot of young people's services in Oldham. We have a drop-in session on Thursday afternoons and you're more than welcome to come along to meet one of our team.   Alternatively, just give our team a call on 0161 274 3299 or drop us an email on v@gmyn.co.uk. One of our advisers will get in touch and we'll help you to take the next step.
