The mock interview programme, organised by Education Business Link team, offers students the opportunity to gain experience in making an application and taking part in a practice interview.
The interviews are carried out by volunteers from local companies, either in school or at Positive Steps.
The process enables students to experience first hand, the types of questions they may be asked at an interview for employment or training.
Interviews normally take place in the Autumn or Spring Terms in Year 11 or Summer Term Year 10.
Each interview normally lasts 30 minutes, the interviewer is given the students CV and application form beforehand, and asks the student questions based on this. At the end the interviewer provides the student with feedback on their interview, and also completes a form which returns to school.
We are always looking for more volunteers to help with this programme, you can commit as much, or as little time as you like, and its a great opportunity for staff to brush up on their interviewing skills as well as developing links with the community.
